SSDI & SSI

Two programs. We help with both.

SSDI and SSI both provide disability benefits — but the rules are different. Here's the plain-English version.

Social Security Disability Insurance

SSDI

  • Based on your work history and Social Security credits
  • Usually requires recent work earnings
  • May include Medicare after 24 months
  • Benefits based on your past earnings
Supplemental Security Income

SSI

  • Based on financial need (income & resources)
  • Does not require a work history
  • May include Medicaid in most states
  • Benefits at a federal base amount
